Naked Sheep!

Naked Sheep!

Over the weekend we got so much accomplished to finish up before winter comes.  It happened that a warm front is passing through so we were thinking about the coming winter on an almost 80 degree day.  Sunday morning we woke up early and got Lola pig into her travel box to take her to the butcher on Monday morning.  We chose to do this early so that not only would my Mom and I have Jeff’s help but if…

I am incredibly happy to have both the horses home on the farm with us.  Ace is also incredibly happy supervising my chores.  He follows me to the sheep pasture and watches while I do their chores, he watches me clean the stalls, fill buckets and pass out hay.  I missed my horse horribly bad after we moved to the farm and he was still boarding an hour away, there was no need apparently to worry about our bond though….

Carpenters Sqaure

Carpenters Sqaure

I thought that my husband’s workshop needed a nice barn square to have on it.  It took me about two weeks to paint this carpenters square for his barn and I am extremely pleased with how it turned out!  Next year we plan to paint his shop barn red which will really make this barn square pop.

Looks can be deceiving

Looks can be deceiving

I may look like an adult who is all grown up but in reality I might just be a little girl at heart whose dreams have come true.  Growing up I asked for a horse again and again.  At christmas I always joked when guessing what my presents were that it would be a pony.  I dreamed of having a beautiful farm with a border collie and some sheep.  Well I did get my farm, dog, sheep, and horses and…

Ducks in a Row

Ducks in a Row

Things are finally coming together here, fencing is going up and sheep will be coming home very soon!  Jeff has been installing the fence for our sheep to live in this week digging post holes and pounding in t-posts.  The end of this week we will be bringing home the meat sheep, Ewestace and two other ewe lambs to keep her company.  Then this weekend Jeff and I will be going on a road trip to pick up Purdy the…

Settling In

Settling In

The farm is absolutely wonderfully amazing, Jeff and I are loving it here and couldn’t be happier.  My mom has been incredibly helpful with helping to unpack the house and get us settled in.  My husband has been wonderful getting all the furniture into place for me and helping me build my chickens a coop to live in (which they love and are super happy about).  We have run into a few snags like the lawn mower not working, a…

The Sky Is Falling

The Sky Is Falling

I was sitting there minding my own business when I saw a giant hand reaching out of the sky to abduct me.  My friends and I were running for our lives when I was snatched, snatched I tell you, plucked right from the earth!  Luckily (at least for me) I wasn’t alone some of my friends had also been taken.  Once caught we were loaded into a transport container, when we were dumped out we all looked up to see…

Between Midnight and Three AM

Between Midnight and Three AM

Since returning from vacation in florida we have been busy packing and preparing to move in less than 30 days.  We have been anxiously awaiting moving day and it is defiantly fast approaching.  There are still many decisions left to be made and plans still to firm up.  We still need to find and buy a lawn mower as well as an actual tractor for the farm.  All of the fencing will need to be installed right after we close…

Putting Away

Putting Away

We have all had those days when we don’t want to cook or we aren’t feeling well.  I try to cook enormous amounts of food that freezes or cans well when I can: chicken, turkey, burgers, chicken stock, chili and anything else I can preserve well.  This makes my life profoundly easier when I may not be feeling well or just don’t want to cook.  Today I made pulled pork for dinner and will freeze the rest in dinner size…

Out of town…

Out of town…

My husband is planning guys weekend coming soon and will be out of cell reception.  Historically this means something here at home will go horribly wrong, I will then be unable to reach my husband leaving me to fend for myself.  He joked this morning while we were eating breakfast which pet is going to get sick while he is gone?  I laughed and immediately said Olive.  We both looked out the window to see Olive eating twigs.  This brings me…
