Between Midnight and Three AM

Between Midnight and Three AM

Since returning from vacation in florida we have been busy packing and preparing to move in less than 30 days.  We have been anxiously awaiting moving day and it is defiantly fast approaching.  There are still many decisions left to be made and plans still to firm up.  We still need to find and buy a lawn mower as well as an actual tractor for the farm.  All of the fencing will need to be installed right after we close…

Time Well Spent

Time Well Spent

I have started packing the house which is extremely stressful, I took this opportunity to learn something new.  I have started knitting!  I started with a hat then for my next project I decided on some nice relaxing…lace.  Right, so a giant lace blanket may not have been the most appropriate stress relief.  I have ripped out the same row twice now so I moved onto working on the fabric basket tutorial to take a break.  This basket is turning…

Eat Your Wheaties!

Eat Your Wheaties!

Gus and Olive start sheep camp again today at Cherry Hill Training Center.  When Jeff fed Gus his breakfast I heard him pronounce to Gus “Eat up you, got to perform well today!”  Without even thinking I walked into the room and spoke up for Gus “Dad I don’t perform sheep herding, it’s a way of life.”  After Gus and I straightened out Jeff’s line of thought I realized he didn’t say anything to Olive.  I have decided this means one…

Slippery Slopes

Slippery Slopes

Last night I made a vat of Chicken Chile Verde, which made enough for dinner as well as to can 8 pints.  I love having canned dinners in the fridge for nights that I don’t want to cook.  This is a recipe I have never canned before so I won’t post the recipe to can just yet (I want to make sure it does’t kill anyone first ;).  Today I went to a knitting class that was delightful.  I decided…

Wood Stove

Wood Stove

Our new farmhouse has a wood stove in the house which we are super excited about.  I was supposed to be researching how to replace the bricks inside the stove when I found these super cute wood stove steamers.  They have steamers in cast iron and so many different styles and shapes you can get yours here or here.  I most definitely will need one of these!   Please note this post contains links to affiliates.  I make a small commission on the…

Spring Time Busy

Spring Time Busy

We have been busy here with spring time, not only do we have the two bottle lambs but we also brought all the rabbits home this last weekend.  I love having my bunnies back home where I can spoil them and love on them.  One of our adult breeders Sly got to retire and went to a wonderful pet home.  Sly will have other rabbits to be around as well as cats, I am so happy he went to such…

Family Feud

Family Feud

I love my border collie, I even love his incredible ability to learn so quickly (most times).  When he was a puppy my husband and I accidentally taught Gus that “Good Boy” meant jump on me and I will pet you.  My husband an I have both been sick this weekend meaning less exercise for the nutty herding dogs.  I have been on the couch for the last hour or so with Snugglepants our black cat sitting behind me.  Gus…

Egg Basket

Egg Basket

We have been busy planning farm things like fences, barns, goats and chickens.  The middle of June seems far to long to wait to move.  I decided in the meantime to make an egg basket while I wait.  This basket turned out much larger than anticipated, meaning I will need many chickens to fill this basket.  We are so excited for this new chapter in our lives!
