Decided to take a break from packing and moving stress for a wonderful trail ride on Ace this morning.
Lazy days

I was sitting there minding my own business when I saw a giant hand reaching out of the sky to abduct me. My friends and I were running for our lives when I was snatched, snatched I tell you, plucked right from the earth! Luckily (at least for me) I wasn’t alone some of my friends had also been taken. Once caught we were loaded into a transport container, when we were dumped out we all looked up to see the most monstrous creature imaginable…a Border Collie!
Jeff and I went to pick out some baby chicks yesterday and for some reason it made me think that this must be what an alien abduction must be like. We picked out six chicks total, three Buff Orpington and three Production Reds. I can’t wait for them to be old enough to start making me some eggs! Our Bordie Collie is especially interested in the chicks, I think he would be overly happy to just watch them all day.
Since returning from vacation in florida we have been busy packing and preparing to move in less than 30 days. We have been anxiously awaiting moving day and it is defiantly fast approaching. There are still many decisions left to be made and plans still to firm up. We still need to find and buy a lawn mower as well as an actual tractor for the farm. All of the fencing will need to be installed right after we close on the house for the dogs as well as the livestock. We need to have a barn built before winter comes to house the animals and my tractor. A chicken coop will need to be built for my future chickens that I still have not ordered yet. Needless to say we have been busy both packing and dreaming and planning here. I can’t wait to look out my back door and see this field filled with lambs and Ace!
First thing you need to understand is that feed stores get their babies from hatcheries. So there aren’t going to be significant differences. Ideally I’d get my chicks from a local breeder, but, as of right now, we haven’t been able to find any. Perhaps we will fill that niche in the future. In the meantime […]

Jeff is competing today in a Tarpon fishing tournament in Florida. Last year the team that he was on won the tournament catching 4 fish total meaning that they have a title to protect. This tournament raises funds for the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Refuge. The weather conditions this year are extremely challenging. The fish have been difficult to locate, it will be anyone’s game be sure to check our Facebook feed for updates.
I have always wanted to see a Pelican in person as I think they are extremely neat animals. These birds are amazing fishers, they fly over the water scanning for fish then dive into the surf and come back up swallowing fish! They certainly make fishing look much easier than it is.
