What are you waiting for?

What are you waiting for?

I had the most wonderful birthday yesterday spending quality time for myself.  My wonderful mother in-law watched my beautiful baby for me giving me the day off.  I had a lot of time to think about the past years up and downs and what I had learned from them.  Last year we made the decision to finally jump in and buy the farm.  We no longer wanted to wait to have our farm and start our dream.  Shortly after finding…

Good For My Soul

Good For My Soul

Today I was the first day since having my baby that I got to go down and do chores by myself.  I have missed my animals terribly and was just as happy to see them as Ace was to see me.  Ewestace and Purl were even happy to see me!  Gus worked well for me tonight and didn’t even try to get away with anything naughty.

Naked Sheep!

Naked Sheep!

Over the weekend we got so much accomplished to finish up before winter comes.  It happened that a warm front is passing through so we were thinking about the coming winter on an almost 80 degree day.  Sunday morning we woke up early and got Lola pig into her travel box to take her to the butcher on Monday morning.  We chose to do this early so that not only would my Mom and I have Jeff’s help but if…

It’s the middle of October which means we are finishing the last few items on the winter is coming list.  We have all the pieces to put together the chicken and rabbit shelter for winter and will be doing that hopefully within the next week.  The pig is going to the butcher Monday with two of the lambs.  We will be repurposing the box we brought Miss Purdy home in to bring the pig to the butcher.  The project for…

Clean and Dry

Clean and Dry

Yesterday my husband made our sheep a hay manger for their hay to be in so it is off the ground and dry.  I can’t tell you how nice it is to have a husband that is handy and can build things for me when I need him to.  My sheep will stay clean and dry this winter and so will their hay, this will make me and Purdy happy campers this winter!

Looks can be deceiving

Looks can be deceiving

I may look like an adult who is all grown up but in reality I might just be a little girl at heart whose dreams have come true.  Growing up I asked for a horse again and again.  At christmas I always joked when guessing what my presents were that it would be a pony.  I dreamed of having a beautiful farm with a border collie and some sheep.  Well I did get my farm, dog, sheep, and horses and…

From a lamb’s point of view…

Ewestace wants you all to know she is super excited fall is here and the leaves are starting to change. She is not however excited that means the border collie comes to visit her more often to move the sheep.  Ewestace just doesn’t understand why the border collie feels the need to keep moving them all over the pasture … Silly dog.

Settled In

Settled In

We are in the home stretch of moving to the farm. All the animals are present and accounted for as well as settled in nicely to their new souroundings.  There are still a couple things left to do before winter like getting all the hay for sheep and horses here and covered.  We also have to arrange in the next month getting two of the meat lambs processed as well as the pig for winter meat for ourselves.  I cannot…

Sheep cam

Sheep cam

We put the camera on Ewestace last night while Gus was working the sheep, she was such a good little sheep.  She stood very still while I put the camera on her and didn’t seem to mind it at all.  All the other sheep were very interested in Ewestace’s new accessories and here is that video.  Stay tuned for videos from Ewestace of Gus working!
