Dinner

Dinner

When I came down to feed this evening (I was a little late) all the sheep and Purdy were waiting at the gate for me. They were very concerned they were in fact going to starve this evening!

Pedicures!

Pedicures!

We trimmed hooves this morning on everyone and surprise surprise Purl and Ewestace were the only well behaved ones.  Purdy wasn’t a fan at all of having her feet done and really wasn’t a fan of her sheep being locked up and tortured.  In the end I’m thankful Jeff was here to help me today!

Water

Water

It’s hasn’t substantially rained here for some time meaning that all the vegetation is looking quite sad.  The grass isn’t as nutritious as it would normally be if we had more rain meaning we are already feeding hay and grain to the sheep.  I am very grateful that the well people are here today beginning to drill our new well which will hopefully be able to fill more than 25 of water in the water troughs at a time!

Farm update

Farm update

I thought I would give a general update on the farm for everyone today.  Lola the pig and I have come to an understanding, which is Lola isn’t allowed to taste me or eat me when I go into her enclosure and I will continue to feed her.  Instead of charging me and trying to taste me she now will stand on the other side of her pen while I feed her and change her water.  I know this is…

Countdown to Ace!

Countdown to Ace!

The big kid room…

I spent half the week painting the upstairs bedroom (which is twice as big) so that Jeff and I could move upstairs.  Amazingly I didn’t get any paint on any pets and only a little on me.  As we were cleaning up after the painting stuff Jeff suggested we clean the carpet, it smelled a little musty from being closed and the previous owners of the home smoked so it still smelled a little of smoke.  I recently became a…

Sadly he has no thumbs…

The most useful farm tool that I have is by far our Border Collie Gus, he proves to be helpful more than I can count.  I know that if the sheep we’re to get out that I wouldn’t have to much trouble getting them back with Gus’s help (Purdy is another story) which is a load off my mind.  This morning when I went down to do morning chores I saw that Jenny one of the brown spotted ewes had…

Clearing the Sumac Forest…

Clearing the Sumac Forest…

When I sit on my porch I think about how great it would be to be able to see all the way to the pasture.  I don’t however think about how much work it will actually be to cut and now down the forest that currently obstructs my view.  We actually do need this cleared for more than being able to see the pasture.  A small two stall horse barn is being delivered soon to house our two horses and…
