As you all know the first day of fall happened recently. For me this is a not so gentle reminder of the ginormous list of things left to do before winter. My amazing husband Jeff has a full time job outside the farm (required to support my wool habbit) so I try to get as much done alone as possible. This past week I decided it was time to move the sheep closer to the house up on the…
What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Motherhood is something that no class, no lectures from wise older moms and no amount of research can prepare you for. I spent the majority of my pregnancy (which to me seemed years long) pretending that we would magically skip over the whole birth thing. I am sure that most first time mom’s have many of the same worries that I had while pregnant with my kiddo. Will I be a good mom, will she love me, how will I…
In dreams and in love there are no impossibilities. -Janos Arnay I thought it might be time to introduce ourselves since we have acquired so many new followers. I hatched chicks this spring hoping for two hens and a rooster but I think I got 3 roosters.
Home improvement projects are well under way here at the farm! Staying home with a 7 month old kid and three dogs can make me a little stir crazy at times. Henley and I decided one day to rip out he carpet in the stairs. This was about a month ago. It went a bit like this… Me: Hen, Olive let redo the stairs! Hen: sequels Witt glee from her pack and play (she must approve)! Olive: Well mom you…
The tiny velociraptors are moving up in the world! They have been moved from their tiny chicken nursery to the big dog kennel to finish growing up. The adult chickens are still mad that they can’t get in there and eat all there yummy chick grower!
I went out to collect eggs today to find a certain chicken trying to hatch chicks! After all the talks I have had with Betty she is still determined to hatch eggs. This just continues to prove olives theory that birds and not smart creatures!
