I have figured out why farmers live so long… because we are tough as nails. All those times our farm animals give us small heart attacks makes our heart strong. I discovered last night that a stray dog had run my horses through the fence and they were missing. Thankfully my paint is afraid of water and didn’t cross the creek so they were relatively close to the barn still. After catching them and locking them in their stalls I realized I hadn’t even seen the sheep when I went down to the horses since they don’t get evening grain. I was immensely grateful for my llama Purdy as she had all my wooly girls in their house and was standing guard at the door. I closed everyone up in their shelters for the night but was not able to catch the dog. After repairing the fence this morning in the freezing cold rain I have realized that I am capable of more than I ever thought I would be.
Courage doesn’t mean you don’t get afraid. Courage means you don’t let fear stop you. -Bethany Hamilton
